Author Guidelines

The Taiwanese Journal of Entomological Studies is quarterly published and peer-reviewed journal by Taiwanese Society of Insect Natural History, which is expected to publish 4 issues on March, June, September and December respectively. Any original manuscript, which is not in submitted or considered as published paper on other journal is welcome. The articles are open-accessed in Tai. J. Ent. Stud.

The scope includes any research of insect and arachnid natural history as biological observation in field, faunistic studies, rearing methods and records; discussion on morphology. The review article on high-level classification, ecology and evolution is invited by editorial board. Manuscripts should be written in Chinese / English with English / Chinese abstract. The author could ask editors for helping on Chinese/ English abstract writing if needed. Non-English native foreign authors are encouraged to provide the abstract and keywords in their native language in order to make the article spread widely. However, the taxonomic papers with new taxa established and taxonomic treatments are recommended to submit to high impact international journals or Formosan Entomologist. Authors should aware that the attribution of their manuscripts. Therefore, we will decline taxonomic papers with taxonomic acts.

The page charges are free in Tai. J. Ent. Stud. for the time being. Scientific communications should be limited in 2 pages. Pages exceed 2 pages will be assigned as research article. Authors should aware that the attribution of their manuscripts. However, in general condition, we strongly recommend that authors adopt the format of research article, which contains all needed paragraphs. The attribution of the manuscripts will be determined by editors. Tai. J. Ent. Stud. also accepts F&V communication to publish photograph or video with new discoveries of natural history of insects. Preferred F&V communication should 1) under natural conditions and without human intrusion; 2) should report novel information that has not already been reported in the previous literature; and 3) from natural history perspective. With some exceptions, individual notes should concern only one species. Authors are requested to choose a keyword or short phrase for a title that best describes the nature of their note(e.g., Diet, Predation, Reproduction, Morphology, Habitat Use, Behavior, etc.) and a short paragraph to describe the phenomenon. The section’s intent is to convey information rather than demonstrate prose. Use of figures is encouraged but they should replace words rather than embellish them and should help interpret the observation being reported, rather than just being a pretty picture of the animal. If specimens were collected, include deposition number and identify the collection. Please provide full, accepted name of the institution/collection where specimen is deposited.

If any submission being accepted by Tai. J. Ent. Stud., the authors agree to grant Tai. J. Ent. Stud. to sublicense National Central Library or any other database provider to reproduce, transmit publicly by Internet, download, print and browse by authorized users.
